Bedugul Bali is a tourist attraction located in a
hills with a very cool weather where there is also a lake called
"Beratan" Lake.
In Bedugul there is a temple called "ulun
danu", located at the edge of the "Beratan" lake. People there
trust that the Ulun Danu temple is a place where the "Sri" goddes or
known as goddes of fertilty resides.
Ulun Danu Beratan temple complex consists of four, namely:
Linga Petak temple, Penataran Pucak Mangu temple, Terate Bang temple
and the Dalem Purwa temple which used as a place to praise God's grace in its
manifestation as the Tri Murti god, in order to invoke the grace of fertility,
prosperity, human well-being and everlasting universe.
Location
Bedugul located in the "Candi kuning"
village, Baturit Ditrict, Tabanan regency. With approximately 45 km away from
downtown of Tabanan regency and about 50 km to the north of Denpasar city along
the highway. This temple is located in the edge of Beratan Lake.
History
Ulun Danu Beratan history is known from archaeological
and historical data contained in the papyrus of "Babad Mengwi". To
the left of the front yard of Ulun Danu temple there is a sarcophagus and a
stone board, which comes from megalithic period, around 500 BC. Both artifacts
are now placed above Babaturan, an estimated place where Ulun Danu temple
located in the past. This place has been used as a place to perform rituals
since ancient megalithic period.
